Mobile and Community Therapy

Mobile therapy allows us to support children in the places where they spend their day, at home or at preschool. We provide mobile services across the Hills and Northwest Sydney.

Mobile Services

We have a wonderful team of Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) who provide mobile services in your child’s home or preschool. All of our AHAs have more than nine or ten years of experience. Guided by our Occupational Therapists, they provide skills-based therapy through a range of play experiences chosen around your child’s interests, needs and goals.

Sessions focus on developing functional skills such as fine motor skills, attention, regulation and social interaction, with connection and engagement at the heart of what they do. This service offers a different approach to our in-clinic Occupational Therapy sessions, giving children opportunities to practise and build skills within their everyday environments.

Mobile therapy at home and preschool

For children attending preschool several days per week, there are wonderful opportunities to work on skills within their usual routines and play experiences. Our AHAs support children to engage, participate and connect with their peers, with opportunities to develop social skills in the moment: joining play, sharing ideas, responding to others and keeping an interaction going. Working in this setting helps bring therapy goals into everyday experiences that are meaningful for your child.

Many children also benefit from home-based sessions, with a focus on developing fine motor skills, attention and regulation. Our AHAs bring a range of activities and play experiences chosen around your child’s interests and goals, supporting them to feel comfortable, engaged and ready to learn.

For children with high medical needs or significant physical disability who are unable to attend preschool, our AHAs can help establish a solid home-based program across several days of the week. Guided by the OT and tailored to the child’s abilities, medical needs and capacity to participate, these sessions provide regular opportunities to develop fine motor, gross motor and social skills. Through a range of adapted play experiences, we support connection, interaction and learning within the comfort of the child’s home.
