Peer Pairs Play Sessions in Sydney

Our Peer Pairs bring two children together to develop their play and interaction skills in a supportive setting. Children are carefully matched, considering their age, interests, developmental needs and goals.

How a Peer Pairs session works

Through a range of enjoyable play experiences, we support the children to notice and respond to one another, share ideas, take turns and keep the play going together. There are wonderful opportunities to learn from each other, practise regulation and build confidence in connecting with a friend.

The focus is on helping successful interactions develop naturally, with support in the moment as needed.

Sessions are provided by either an Occupational Therapist or an Allied Health Assistant (AHA), depending on the needs of the children.

Play with peers and siblings

Some children benefit from sessions with a sibling or a carefully matched peer. These sessions provide opportunities to develop shared play and relationships with another child or their sibling.

The therapist supports the children in the moment, helping them notice and respond to one another, communicate their ideas and find ways to keep playing together. The children’s interests help guide the direction of the play, with support for regulation and successful interaction as needed.
